Happenings in Scranton

Kei Igawa got the win in Scranton's 11-9 victory over Buffalo. He pitched well giving up just 1 run in 7 innings, giving up 5 hits, walking 2, and striking out 8. Two relievers pitched .1 inning each, each giving up 4 earned runs. Edwar Ramirez got the save getting 4 outs, 3 by strikeout of course.

I saw that 2 nights ago, a "Hernandez" pitched for Scranton, making me wonder, "who's Hernandez?" The Yankees have had so many injuries they just sign random people to make starts now. This signing is not a fun one. It's from Pawtucket, Runelvys Hernandez. I guess there's no downside. He's not on the 40-man.

It's strange how the Red Sox and Yankees seem to chase the same mediocre (or worse) talent. Hernandez is one thing, but even in the last few years you've seen guys like Embree and Bellhorn latch on to the Yanks late in the season after being cut by the Sox, and before that Mendoza came to Boston to play out the string.

And of course, the Red Sox also wanted Pavano and Contreras.
