Duque a Met

The Mets just traded Jorge Julio to the Diamondbacks for Orlando Hernandez, who may or may not be older than Julio Franco. I think it's a worthwhile move, given the asking price for some of the other crap pitchers out there, but I'll let Warren handle the in-depth analysis...

Given the starters the Mets have been putting out there recently, it's a good move. But this makes the Benson for Julio trade seem even sillier now. Sure, they're not on the hook for Duque past this season, but Benson would sure look good in the rotation right now. Ah, the good old days when he had too many starters...

I think this is a good move for the Mets. Losing Julio isn't going to matter, Duque still has his big enough upside to make it worth it. The biggest reason this is good is he's done it in New York, so that part isn't an issue.
