The Streak Continues
I spent roughly four years in close proximity to a particular Yankee fan. From the beginning of our freshman year of college, through the October following our graduation, I had to be around this fan, reveling in his smugness as his team won 4 championships.
Now, when I finally don't have to be around him every October, the Yankees don't win anymore. Sure, that's a great thing, but couldn't this have happened in college? Why did the four Yankee championships that I have any recollection of have to happen at the worst time?
I guess I should stop complaining about something that is so wonderful. Now the Mets need to sweep, and we have a perfect sports day. Well, except for Cornell losing to Harvard in football.

I hear you there. I remember storming out of your apartment without saying a word after the last out of the 1999 ALCS, and having to deal with crap like this conversation dealing with our relative hatred of our rivals:
Me: "If the Red Sox were in the World Series, you'd root hard against them, right?"
Him: "I don't think I'll ever have to worry about that."
Of course, my prized possession is the printout of his "Breaking My Silence" e-mail from 11/3/04, which I have hanging behind the desk in my office. Whenever I'm having a long day, I can read that and it always puts a smile on my face.
By the way, Cornell has a football team?
