D-Rays Defense on Giambi
The D-Rays defense on Giambi included NOBODY on the left side of the infield. They had an extra guy on the right side (playing almost a short right field), and four players in the deep outfield.
If you ask "Did it work?", you'd be asking the wrong question. The appropriate question would be, "Did it matter?" As of the 8th innning the answer to this question would be "No." In his 4 plate appearances he has struck out once, walked twice, and been hit by a pitch. It's a 2-2 tie right now, so he may get up again.

They did the same thing with Ortiz, with mixed results. I can't remember if that's the team that he bunted against for a single, but I don't think it was.
Giambi is up again right now but with runners on 1st and 2nd they can't play that defensive alignment.
