Baseball Culture: Top 5 Standup Comedy Routines

#5 George Lopez - Going to the Baseball Game
Lopez talks about going to a game at Dodgers stadium with his large Mexican family when he was a child. His family telling him to bring his glove. Him asking why as there is no way anybody could hit the ball where they sit. Their reason, to sneak in liquor. They won't search a kid.

#4 Bob Newhart - Marketing Baseball
In classic Newhart style, he takes you to a situation and what it would be like. In this case, Abner Doubleday pitching the idea of baseball like someone would pitch a gameboard idea.

#3 Dan St. Paul - The First Baseball Game Ever Played
Very clever, done in the voice of Harry Carey, as he announces the first baseball game ever played. Includes the miracle of the Bases Empty Grand Slam, and the big #10 Moses coming out of the bullpen.

#2 George Carlin - Baseball vs. Football
An hilarious comparison of the two sports, with baseball being leisurely, and football being like war. "Baseball, we don't know when it's going to end. We may have extra innings. Football is rigidly timed and it will end, even if we have to go to sudden death." Classic Carlin at his best.

#1 Abbott & Costello - Who's on First
Probably the best known comedy routine ever. When they performed in on the set of the movie the Naughty Nineties they had to do it over and over again because they couldn't get a take without hearing the movie crew laughing in the background. It's almost impossible not to laugh with "I don't know" "Third Base!"

I'd rank Carlin behind St. Paul for the simple fact that the whole point of Carlin's skit it to point out that baseball is a sissy sport.
