How the Yankees will fare against Sabathia

It's been more than three years since the Yankees last faced Sabathia. In his eight career appearances against the Yankees he's 1-To try to figure out how the Yankees will do against Sabathia, I took a look at his matchups this season, and saw he pitched 3 games against teams with more than 600 walks this season, pitching twice against Oakland and once against the Phillies. Sabathia had a 4.98 ERA in those 3 games.

It's a very small sample size, but I don't have much better to go off of.

The first pitch of at bats should be interesting. Sabathia was asked about the Yankees' patience and said he plans on trying to attack the strike zone and get ahead in the count.

Will the Yankees change their approach and swing early?

118 times this year a hitter put the first pitch in play against Sabathia. They hit .407 in those at bats.

Well, the strike zone in this game was pretty tight for both teams, so it's no surprise that the starters were chased early and so many runs were scored. The Yankees, appropriately, did not end up changing their approach - they took a lot of pitches and worked the count, but stranded a lot of runners.
