Take Joba Out

The Yankees brought in Chamberlain with a 4-3 lead going into the 7th. Chamberlain got Sheffield on a popup, then struck out Ordonez on 3 pitches, and Guillen on 4.

The Yankees have now scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th to take a 3-run lead. Due to the Yankees saying that Chamberlain will have an equal number of days off to how many innings he pitches, if he throws the 8th, they won't use him again until Wednesday. I'd rather him be available Tuesday.

My guess is there is no way Torre will do that, and it's hard to blame him. Afterall, there is something to be said for making sure you win the game you're playing right now, as you have no idea what Tuesday's game will be like anyway, if there is even a need for Chamberlain.

I'd rather be aggressive, take the risk that the bullpen won't blow a 3-run lead in the final two innings, and have Chamberlain available sooner.

Of course I'd also prefer the Yankees to put Kennedy in the bullpen as well, and have them split setup duty for Rivera.

I'm shocked! Torre agreed with me. He took Chamarlain out, and brought in Edwar. I like.
