Last Chance for Igawa

No matter what Kei Igawa does in his next start on Thursday, it seems his time as a Yankee starter are over, unless an injury occurs. Phil Hughes just had his first AAA rehab start, and pitched 6 shutout innings, giving up 2 hits, 1 walk while striking out 7. While he pitched 6 innings, he may get one more rehab start, as he only threw 73 pitches.

With a day off in the Yankee schedule, they can get Hughes another start in the minors, with Igawa going to either the bullpen or the minors after his next start. I would guess it will be either August 3rd or 4th against KC for his return. I'm hoping for the 3rd, so I can see him live for the first time.

If that's the first time you see Hughes, I'm playing under protest.
