Pitching in Trenton
The Trenton Thunder somewhat epitomize the Yankee farm system right now, lots of pitching, very little hitting. The Thunder have scored the second fewest runs in the Eastern League, however, there pitching is so good it doesn't matter, as they are running away with first place.
Their team ERA is 2.44, over a run better than any other Eastern League Team. If that wasn't enough, the Tampa Yankees are second in the Florida State League in team ERA, and Trenton just got their two best pitchers, 2006 draftees, Ian Kennedy and Joba Chamberlain. The two pitchers were a combined 10-1, with a 1.57 ERA in the FSL. Kennedy, 22, had a rough first start in AA (in which he still picked up the win), and then was great in his second start, going 6 shutout innings, giving up 3 hits, while striking out 8.
Chamberlain, 21, is making his first AA start right now, and hasn't given up any runs in 4 innings while already striking out 8.
It's always hard to tell with the Yankees though if they promoted them because they needed the higher competition of AA, or if it was to raise their trade value as we are entering the trading season. I'm hoping it's the former.

Chamberlain threw one more inning, making his pitching line, 5 innings, 0 runs, 3 hits, 2 walks, 9 K's.
And after a double header in which Trenton gave up just one run, the team ERA dropped to 2.39
