It might be time for Cashman to call Texas

The Rangers are out of it and they have Mark Teixeira and Eric Gagne. I think this is definitely the point Brian Cashman should be making a call to the Rangers. The Yankees have depth in young pitching in the minors, and the Rangers always need pitching.

I have no idea what it would take to get a deal done, but the Yankees could use a relief pitcher and a first baseman, and the Rangers have them available, and have even said they will listen to offers for Teixeira.

If the Yankees were to do it right now, it would be a huge boost and not look desperate since they are on a 5-game winning streak anyway.

A lineup that looks like this:
DH- Johnny Damon
SS- Derek Jeter
RF- Bobby Abreu
3B- Alex Rodriguez
1B- Mark Teixeira
C- Jorge Posada
LF- Hideki Matsui
2B- Robinson Cano
CF- Melky Cabrera

I'd like that a lot.

Actually, the Rangers haven't said that at all. They've actually specifically said that they aren't looking to move Teixeira at all.

Now, other teams have said that they've talked to Texas and that they are in fact willing to move Teixeira, but let's not put words in our boy Jon Daniels' mouth.

Well, now Teixeira is on the DL (and who's to say Gagne won't be there soon?), so this would have to be a deadline-ish deal now.

I would have expected Gagne to go on the DL, not Teixeira. I mean, I figure just mentioning a pitcher and the Yankees together could make them go on the DL.
