One-Inning Rivera

From AP:

Rivera appears to have recovered from the elbow problems that kept him sidelined for most of September. However, Torre said he will not use his closer for more than one inning.

"We're going into the postseason with Mariano being a ninth-inning pitcher," Torre said. "We feel we have enough support leading up with him to be able to do this."

Will he really stick to that if the Yankees get behind in a series? If so, that's a huge deal.

I agree - I still think the Tigers have no chance, but the Yanks have been beaten in five-game series before, and with Johnson and Rivera banged up, you never know. This is not the time of the season to lose pitchers...
