Macha Fired
This is mildly surprising; why'd they even bring him back? If I remember correctly, he was already gone after his contract expired last year, and the A's couldn't find anyone they liked when they were interviewing, so they took him back. Weird.
I wonder if they'll just promote Ron Washington to take his place to keep him away from Texas...

This is pretty odd, although it looks like the players didn't have a great relationship with him. You know it's got to be a big deal - if Beane was willing to let Macha go over a difference of (I think) $400K, it means something if he's willing to pay him to not manage.
