Buy Me Some Slurpees and Cracker Jack

I'm not entirely sure what to make of this, but the White Sox have an agreement with 7-Eleven to begin their night games at 7:11pm. Pushing back start times even more: now there's an idea! They would still start their games earlier than the Devil Rays (7:15), but that's not the real issue here.

On the one hand, it's an amazing idea by 7-Eleven, but depending on how far they take it, this could be corporate marketing at its worst. I know I'm a little over-sensitive to matters like this, but if this leads to 7-Eleven logos on tickets and team logos and bases and everything else, then that's no good. Somewhere, Larry Lucchino is kicking himself for not thinking of this sooner.

By the way, this is my favorite line from the story:

White Sox spokesman Scott Reifert would not disclose the value of the three-year deal with the Dallas company Wednesday but said the revenue probably will be reinvested in the baseball team or ballpark.
Emphasis mine, and it damn well better be reinvested in the team if in between Hawk Harrelson's fan-boy gushing fans have to hear promos like "tonight's 7-Eleven Chicago White Sox game is presented by 7-Eleven, where you can try the new breakfast snacker burrito combo for just $1.99."
