Carlos Zambrano

He just gave up a no-hitter in the 8th in Houston. He was at 100 pitches at the start of the inning, so I'm kind of glad he didn't get it, just for the collective sanity of Cubs fans. If anyone would have left him in there for 130+ pitches to try to finish it off, it's Dusty Baker. And if Zambrano went down with a serious arm injury, I don't know if that franchise could recover, at least not in the next few years.

This was the first time since Carl Everett broke up Mussina's perfect game with two out in the ninth in Boston that I've been rooting against a no-hitter. If he had gotten through eight, I was going to send Ross a text message, just to jinx it.

UPDATE: Dusty left Zambrano in to finish up the 8th, getting him up to 126 pitches. Seriously, could his agent sue Dusty for negligence if he blows out his elbow right before free agency? Just wondering...
